About the role: Executive Director
Saheli seeks a talented, resilient, and adaptable leader who will provide strategic direction and growth while ensuring organizational stability. Saheli seeks to expand its reach and strengthen its partnerships by building on its current relationships and accomplishments. The Executive Director (ED) must be comfortable managing the staff and lead as the face of a mission-driven community organization serving South Asian and Arab women and children.
Reporting to the Executive Board, the ED will oversee an operating budget of $1.3M and develop and implement Saheli’s mission and vision. The ED will supervise and work with the Director of Development & Communication and the Director of Domestic & Sexual Violence (D/SV) Programs to guide a dedicated team of 20 to ensure that resources are in place to accomplish important mission goals.

Responsibilities:
Build community presence: Along with the Board of Directors and the staff, the ED will continue to build Saheli’s presence in the South Asian and Arab communities with the goal of increasing accessible services to the community. In collaboration with the Director of Development & Communication, the ED will develop and implement a communication plan and act as the organization's spokesperson.
Financial management: The ED will provide responsible stewardship of the finances by working with our Financial Consultants. ED will ensure the organization's critical business functions meet the required legal compliance, including finance, government regulations, and human resources
Generate income: In collaboration with the Director of Development & Communications, the ED will continuously nurture individual, corporate, foundation, government, and community relationships and lead development efforts to increase organizational resources and enable it. Along with the Board, the ED will lead in organizing fundraising events within the community.
Programs and operations: In collaboration with the leadership team, the ED will clarify program priorities, conduct regular evaluations, coordinate with allies and partners, and consistently identify and research Saheli priorities. The ED will ensure ongoing program excellence through quality control, data collection, and measurable outcomes. The ED will support building a quality team, encouraging collaboration, and ensuring a clear and appropriate chain of command and delegation of responsibilities.
Internal Collaboration: The ED will collaborate with the Saheli Board of Directors in the development and implementation of a strategic plan while keeping the Board informed of Saheli’s operations, funding, priorities, and staffing. The ED is expected to attend monthly board meetings on the second Saturday of the month.
Required Qualifications:
● Senior leadership experience (5+ years) in nonprofits or other government or social service organizations.
● Experience in direct services, research, and/or policy focusing on domestic & sexual violence, women’s rights, violence prevention, the impact of trauma, and/or other related gender justice issues is helpful.
● Experience in fundraising, including prospecting private foundations, individual donors, and government and corporate support at the local, state, and federal levels. Experience with State and Federal grants is especially helpful.
● Experience supervising multiple staff members, building strong teams, and supporting a healthy, inclusive organizational culture.
● Experience in building strong partnerships with various stakeholders like the Board of Directors, individual donors and supporters, and other community-based organizations
● Collaborative people skills include transparency, clear communication, and flexibility.
● Provide both vision and strategic direction with the ability to bring together staff, board, and other stakeholders to achieve goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Public speaking and writing skills for a wide range of audiences.
● Understanding the impact of trauma.
● Bilingual in any South Asian language and /or Arabic is a plus.
● Cultural understanding of the South Asian and Arab communities is a plus.
